Start and Finish:
Start; Youlgrave Village Well, Moor Lane.
Finish ; The George, Youlgrave.
Parking: Alport Lane Playing Fields , Youlgrave DE45 1WN.
We've arranged to use the village playing fields, however space is limited so please car share. The village is only 800m end to end, so if you see a sensible parking space enroute, feel free to utilise as you'll be close to where you need to be. There is also a car park at Coldwell End at the 'top' of the village. If you're passing and there's space, please park up, you're 800m away from the registration desk in the playing fields. Make sure you leave sufficient room to allow buses, tractors and fire engines to pass.
Info: Its the 2nd edition of Youlgrave's Pommie Panter. The race is run under Fell Running Association (FRA) rules and licence. We're a 'proper' traditional Peak District roller of a race. The terrain is rough trails, open fields and a little bit of country lane with small sections of low level technical parts and a swamp. We keep a limit of 175 entrants and the field spreads out quickly on the opening 1mile climb, so you may very well end up solo or in a small group. Whilst the route is not complicated if you're not experienced or familiar with the area a course recce is recommended. The route is all public paths, so you can recce at your leisure

Route
IF YOU WITHDRAW PART WAY THROUGH TELL A MARSHAL OR CHECK IN AT THE FINISH. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE OUT ON A BODY HUNT IF YOU'RE IN THE PUB.
The links to various maps of the route are below. It is challenging and it is mixed. Be prepared for some long climbs, Limestone on the descents (it can get very slippy, very suddenly) and a swamp. Cows, yes there could be cows. ~80% of the route is on potential grazing land, can't avoid the land sharks. We plan for them not to be in the way and for us to have multiple cow whisperers on potential meeting points, so there shouldn't be any interaction... However, they're cows so they'll do what they want. If you run close to them, they'll probably chase you, if you amble past them with a little space, they'll probably ignore you. We recommend the latter approach, oh and they like it if you sing for them.
We try very hard to put plenty of marshals out and to have the route taped . However we may be missing a marshal or they may have to move, a walker could 'tidy up' an arrow or tape. Assume the FRA description of 'partially marked' and come prepared to have to do some navigation. The route lends itself to splitting the field in the 1st mile, so do not assume there'll be anybody to follow.

We'll have water set up at the end with paper cups, but if you have your own mug in your kit, please bring it to cut down on waste. We also finish next to Youlgrave Harriers HQ , The George pub, which is where the after party is.
Things to do: Post race why not hang around and have lunch and/or a few drinks. The post race party will be at the Youlgrave Harriers HQ (The George). If you fancy lunch make sure you book in advance, we have 3 pubs but we're a thirsty lot so they will book up. Details Below. We also have an exceptional bakery/cafe (Peakfeast) and our village shop does some fine cakes. If you fancy a cool down dip or have the family with you we do have a family friendly paddling area in the river or you can call it a 'wild-swimming' area for Instagram purposes.
